As Paul ended his letter to the Ephesians, he talked about a timeless topic that is often looked at with disbelief: spiritual warfare. Faith in Jesus, he wrote, introduces us to a battleground where we fight “a continual and irreconcilable war” against sin and its supporters. Yet God has not left us to fight alone. Through the Father’s grace, the Son’s sacrifice, and the Spirit’s power, we have a whole armory to use!
In this series, Alistair Begg considers Paul’s call to “put on the whole armor of God,” from the defenses of truth, righteousness, the Gospel of peace, faith, and salvation to the weaponry of God’s Word and prayer, with which we fight not “against flesh and blood, but … against the spiritual forces of evil.” As Christ’s soldiers, we are to take up God’s provision to do battle against our enemy and know the triumph that can only be ours in Him.
